With our diverse and inclusive approach, we were pleased to host the "Negotiate Now" workshop in Singapore, where students shared their perspectives on conflict more broadly and discussed current escalations around the world.
Two key takeaways emerged from the session:
- Students emphasized that civil society and the media play a vital role in applying pressure on parties to de-escalate and remain accountable. This can be achieved by fostering transparent communication and ensuring public awareness of the negotiation process.
- Participants also underscored the importance of prioritization in de-escalation negotiations. They suggested that parties should clearly distinguish between issues that can be resolved immediately and those that require a longer-term approach, thereby initiating progress more effectively.
"A very in-depth workshop that delves into what is needed for future change"
"A highly interesting and thought-provoking workshop that enhances critical thinking on negotiations and conflict de-escalation"
